Investing in South Korea ADRs / South Korean Stocks List
American investors have several good options to invest in the South Korean economy or big Korean exporters through NYSE or NASDAQ listed South Korea ADRs, including: Korea Electric Power Corporation (NYSE: KEP) or KEPCO generates South Korea’s electric power; KT Corporation (NYSE: KT) provides integrated telecommunications services; SK Telecom Co Ltd (NYSE: SKM) provides wireless communication services; steel giant POSCO (NYSE: PKX) also owns PT Krakatau POSCO (Indonesia); KB Financial Group, Inc (NYSE: KB), Shinhan Financial Group Co. Ltd. (NYSE: SHG) and Woori Finance Holdings Co Ltd (NYSE: WF) dominate the Korean financial services sector; Gravity Co LTD (NASDAQ: GRVY) is the developer and publisher of online games in Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand; and LG Display Co Ltd (NYSE: LPL) develops, manufactures and sells display and related accessories. In addition, NYSE listed South Korea closed-end funds Nomura Holdings, Inc’s Korea Equity Fund Inc (NYSE: KEF) and Allianz Global Investors U.S. LLC’s Korea Fund Inc (NYSE: KF) have Samsung Electronics as their biggest holding. Otherwise, investors should note the conspicuous absence of the various Samsung listed entities from this list as while they appear to be available to American investors on the OTC’s grey market, they are actually London listed GDRs.
Note: If there are any ADRs to add or remove from this list or there are bad links, please write a note in the comments section so it can be fixed. Likewise, adding any other comments or advice would also be appreciated.
