Investing in India ADRs / Indian Stocks List

Over a dozen Indian ADRs trade on major US stock exchanges (plus a few additional Indian stocks that have OTC listings). These include large BPO or IT outsourcing MNCs like Infosys Ltd (NYSE: INFY)Wipro Limited (NYSE: WIT) and WNS Holdings Limited (NYSE:WNS) that tend to have more exposure to the US and global economies (because of their global presence) rather than the domestic Indian economy. On the other hand, Internet stocks like MakeMyTrip Limited (NASDAQ: MMYT), Sify Technologies Limited (NASDAQ: SIFY) and Yatra Online, Inc (NASDAQ: YTRA) would have considerable exposure to the Indian economy or in markets with large Indian communities. Finally and of the two big Indian telecommunications stocks, Tata Communications Limited (OTCMKTS: TTCMY) has since delisted from the OTC while Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (OTCMKTS: MTENY) now trades on the OTC.

In addition, there are two India closed-end funds: The India Fund, Inc (NYSE: IFN) and Morgan Stanley India Investment Fund Inc (NYSE: IIF). Investors need to look closely at the components of both funds as the former appears to have less exposure to the outsourcing sector (and to be more focused on Indian stocks with more local operations) than the latter.
