A list of Israel ADRs trading on the NYSE, Nasdaq and the OTC is dominated by a large number of Israeli technology stocks along with a noticeable smattering of pharmaceutical/biotech, health care and defence industry players. However, rising anti-Israel feelings has some Israeli ADRs, stocks or companies distancing themselves or trying to be as discreet as possible (e.g. they maintain an overseas headquarters – often in the United States) about their ties to or origins in Israel – especially if most of their revenues are derived globally. For example: Now delisted Sodastream International Ltd (NASDAQ: SODA), the makers of a popular consumer home carbonation product that’s also manufactured in Israel, has long been the subject of boycotts or calls to be boycotted.
In addition to Israel ADRs, the Aberdeen Israel Fund Inc (NYSEMKT: ISL) was a long standing Israel closed-end fund that invested in Israeli securities. However and in April 2018, the Aberdeen Emerging Markets Equity Income Fund, Inc. (NYSE: AEF)completed the reorganizations of several emerging market closed-end funds into the Aberdeen Chile Fund, Inc and the consolidated fund was renamed the Aberdeen Emerging Markets Equity Income Fund, Inc trading on the NYSE American Exchange under the ticker symbol “AEF.”
Note: Stocks delisted from the OTC (whether due to mergers, acquisitions or for other reasons) have been left in the table (as their websites still provide a good feel for the company and the local market) and may still trade on local or important European (e.g. London) or American stock exchanges. They may also be holdings of country or region specific ETFs or Indices.
