Investing in Argentina ETFs / Argentina ETF List
A list of Argentina ETFs consists of the Global X MSCI Argentina ETF (NYSEARCA: ARGT) from Global X and the iShares MSCI Argentina and Global Exposure ETF (NYSEARCA: AGT) from iShares. Both track the MSCI All Argentina 25/50 Index which consists of Argentine stocks headquartered or listed in Argentina and who carry out the majority of their operations in the country. The index targets a minimum of 25 securities and 20 issuers at construction.
The iShares MSCI Argentina and Global Exposure ETF (NYSEARCA: AGT) from iShares also tracks the MSCI All Argentina 25/50 Index. However and in June 2022, iShares announced that ICOL would be one of eleven funds that will be liquidated in August:
Recently, the Board of Directors of the Company of iShares, Inc. voted to close and liquidate the Fund. Trading will be suspended prior to market open on August 23, 2022. Proceeds of the liquidation are currently scheduled to be sent to shareholders on August 25, 2022. For more information, please refer to the prospectus.
It should be said that despite long periods of misrule plus political and economic instability, Argentina is still the second largest economy in South America by GDP, has historically been an important producer and supplier of agricultural commodities and has the fourth largest supply of shale oil reserves in the world.
