Discern and Diversify: Asian Bonds Increasingly Sought for Better Diversification (Eastspring Investments)
Eastspring Investments conducted a survey to find out if investors globally are aware of the opportunities offered by this growing fixed income universe. Close to 200 institutional and wholesale respondents across Asia, Europe, and North America were surveyed on their attitudes and appetites for Asian fixed income. Many new insights have surfaced, and the distinctions across the regions are particularly striking.
Interestingly, survey respondents wish to diversify and expand into new fixed income segments amid anxiety over
the global growth and inflation outlook. Further, despite the heightened volatility in the Asian bond markets, most are
bullish on Asian fixed income, especially China bonds, and are likely to invest in this asset class in the next 12 months.
The results also reveal a growing interest in a pure Asian fixed income exposure via high-quality Asian sovereign and
investment-grade issues as most respondents agree that Asian fixed income provides higher risk-adjusted returns
than developed market fixed income. READ MORE
